Yes, PRP is approved by the FDA for a number of treatments including cosmetic enhancement, orthopedic treatments, and now for sexual health and well being (the O-SHOT and the PRIABUS SHOT).  The discomfort is from a simple blood draw. PRP is applied to the skin topically and driven into the top layer of skin via  a micro-needling procedure. A micro-needling pen is used at different depths and speeds to infuse the PRP (or hyaluronic serum if a patient doesn’t want PRP). Of course the skin is numbed  with a topical product to minimize any discomfort.

Micro-needling with PRP or a hyaluronic serum aides in the repair of acne scarring , dyschromias of the skin, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles. It improves texture and skin tone by causing controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles.
