3 Things to Expect from Microneedling

The last thing that you probably saw yourself doing was sitting in a medial chair in Dr. Bertolino’s office about to have your face punctured with hundreds of tiny needles. Although that sounds a bit frightening, it actually isn’t. In fact, microneedling has become one of the most popular minimally invasive procedures that we offer our patients because it gives them great results without them having to go under the knife. To help you learn a little bit more about this treatment, let’s discuss three things that you can expect from it.

Numbing Cream

First things first, Dr. Bertolino doesn’t want you to be in pain or a lot of discomfort. Before we start microneedling, we will numb your skin with a topical anesthetic. Once the anesthetic has sunk in, we will then start the microneedling treatment.

Redness

Directly after your microneedling treatment, your skin will be a little bit red and sensitive— this is completely normal. We do encourage patients to take the rest of the day off of work in order for their skin to heal and without having to feel self-conscious about the redness in their skin. Luckily, this should die down shortly so that you won’t have to go into hiding.

Real Results

Depending on what we are using microneedling for and how well your skin responds to each session, you can expect to see real results after just one or two treatments. During your initial consultation with Dr. Bertolino, he will be able to give you a better idea of just how many sessions he thinks you will need.
