3 Things to Ask Santa For This Year

Are you in the process of making your list and checking it twice? If you want to make sure that you get exactly what you want for Christmas, then we have a few suggestions for you. Based on some skin care concerns, Dr. Jack Bertolino has created a list of a few different procedures that you may want to ask for for Christmas.

Acne Scars

If you thought that you’d be done with your acne in your teens but you still have acne scars in your adult years, then Dr. Bertolino may recommend a treatment like microneedling. Microneedling is ideal at treating a variety of skin care issues including acne scars. By targeting the top few layers of your skin, microneedling encourages the natural production of newer, healthier skin in its place; leaving you with fewer signs of acne scars in the process.

If you loathe your cellulite, then you’re not alone. Cellulite is one of those genetic things that even the fittest of people can get; making it that much more frustrating. To help treat your cellulite, Dr. Bertolino may recommend a treatment called Vaser Smooth which works to actually break up the dimpling to leave you with smoother skin.

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Depending on the severity of your fine lines and wrinkles and where they are located, you may want to ask Mr. Clause for either dermal fillers or Botox. Botox is typically used around the eyes and across the forehead whereas fillers are used around the nose and mouth.

Before you land on one of these procedures, Dr. Bertolino will want you to come in to our office for a consultation. During your consultation, he will be able to determine which procedure is going to give you the best results. Are you ready to learn more? Skin Care Tips – Between Your Filler Treatments

skin careIt makes sense to take care of your skin between your filler treatments, whether you’re a Xeomin or Dysport fan. You want the most optimum filler results, and we want that, too. So, care for your skin, everyday, especially between your filler treatments. Here are a few between time skin care tips to consider:

  • Water – drink more of it. This is good advice for your entire body. Water is the ultimate hydrator for your skin.
  • This is an especially good idea during the winter months but is beneficial for your skin year-round. Exfoliate at least once a week, preferably twice, using a cream or gel exfoliator and a gentle motion to rid your facial skin of dry, dead skin cells. The perfect time to exfoliate is in the shower while your skin is moist. The gentle, circular motion also helps increase your body’s production of the essential skin protein, collagen.
  • Remove your makeup every night. Some nights that’s the last thing you want to do before bed. But leaving your makeup on while you sleep can lead to pimples and even more severe break-outs. These won’t interfere with your filler treatments but break-outs can lead to scarring.
  • Moisturize every day. Morning and night, after cleansing your skin and while it is damp, treat it to a rich moisturizing cream or lotion – preferably one with a sunscreen. You may want to get a special cream just for nighttime. There is nothing that can benefit your thirsty, dry skin more than moisturizing it. There are serums and hydrating creams made especially for each skin type, be it dry, normal or oily. Do a bit of research and find the perfect one for your skin type.

Choose Your Injectable!

injectablesWe offer an ever-increasing assortment of non-invasive procedures to help you achieve your goals without surgery. The most popular among them are injectables.

Botox is the world’s most popular non-invasive procedure. It works wonders on the lines and wrinkles that occur on the top third of the face. These are wrinkles caused by muscle contractions when we perform regular actions such as frowning or squinting. Botox is derived from the botulinum toxin, which, when injected into a muscle in very small amounts, is able to paralyze muscle activity for a period of time. By paralyzing the muscles, the wrinkles that form above them disappear. Botox is very effective on frown lines, crow’s feet, and the 11’s between your eyebrows.

  • Botox relaxes the fine muscles of the face to sooth wrinkles
  • Treatments last for up to six months before they need to be repeated
  • Botox results usually fully show themselves in three to seven days

Unlike Botox, which works on wrinkles caused by muscle action, Juvederm works best on “static” wrinkles, those that are visible without muscle contraction. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance whose job it is to attract water molecules to hydrate and plump the skin.

  • Excellent on laugh lines and marionette lines
  • Can add definition to the chin
  • Can return shape to thinning lips
  • Results last up to one year

Fat Transfer
In a fat transfer, fat is removed from an unwanted location on your body, filtered, and then re-injected back into your facial muscles to fill wrinkles and add volume. Since the fat cells are from your own body, there is no danger of allergic reactions.

  • Fat transfer results tend to last longer than injectables
  • Done under local anesthetic for both fat removal and injection sites

Surgery isn’t the only answer in the aesthetic world any longer. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Bertolino and experience the extensive knowledge of facial anatomy to work with the injectables of your choice.
