Peri-menopause-The Crashing Plane

Peri-menopause is a hormonal condition that will be experienced by all females as they age. Technically it is “ovarian decline” and with it comes detrimental concerns about a females health and quality of living. I have said this since I started doing bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) some 20 years ago. The declining female needs to be looked at and attended to early on, on her peri-menopausal  journey. My personal analogy has always been, and I think analogies are helpful in learning, consider the failing female as a descending airplane. The plane is losing altitude and parts of the plane are failing. If you where flying the plane would you try to fix the failing parts before it crashes??? Of course you would. Think of the descending plane as peri-menopause and you the pilot (doctor) need to stop the crash (full blown menopause) . If the plane crashes the women becomes menopausal and her organ systems decline badly. A hysterectomy is a quick, profound crash!!! We as physicians (pilots) should replace female hormones before they cause brain, bone, muscle and decline in quality of living in the aging female patient. Bioidentical hormones are plant based, natural hormones that fix the hormonal deficits building bone and muscle mass, improving memory and brain function and giving back quality of life, such as better sleep, improved libido, better attitude, less apathy and a healthier existence. So, remember to have your health care providers look at your hormonal status as your plane is descending, and have them fix you BEFORE YOU CRASH!!!!. JB
