ALMI for Collagen Induction? What Does It Mean

Did you know that by the time you hit your 40’s you will start to lose about 20% of the collagen in your skin? And by the time you hit your 50’s you will experience about a 30% loss of collagen which means that the more you age, the more collagen you are going to lose and the more fine lines and wrinkles you are going to gain. So, what can you do to help restore the collagen in your skin and get a more youthful complexion? Let’s take a closer look at one procedure that is taking our patients skin by storm: ALMI.

What Is ALMI?

ALMI may sound like the name of someone’s alma mater, but it actually stands for Autologous Lipocyte Micronized Injection. This state of the art procedure uses a person’s own tissue and cells to help renew and restore damaged tissues and volume loss; leaving you with more collagen in the process. Specifically, at Jack Bertolino’s office, we combine the use of a patient’s fat that broken into nanoparticles with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

What Is PRP?

We’ve discussed PRP on our blog before but because it’s so popular, let’s talk about it again. PRP is a procedure that involves extracting the plasma from your blood and then either placing it on your skin by itself or using microneedling beforehand to help the PRP penetrate deeper into the skin. Because your plasma has so many proteins in it, it helps to regenerate collagen and volume in the skin.

Here at our office, Jack Bertolino has a variety of different anti-aging procedures and techniques that can be used to help restore volume and collagen in your skin.
