If this is your first pregnancy, you will quickly learn that there are only a few things that you have control over and one of them is your body. Although there are simple things you can do to alleviate nausea and help get rid of the potential for stretch marks, ultimately, your body is going to do what it’s going to do; no matter how much stretch cream lotion and oil you apply. If you have some unwanted post-pregnancy stretch marks that are making you feel a little self-conscious, Dr. Jack Bertolino has a few solutions to help you get rid of them. Let’s take a closer look.
What Are Stretch Marks?
Before we delve into the different stretch mark treatment options we offer, let’s take a look at what stretch marks are and how they are caused. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and although it can stretch and grow with your body, sometimes there isn’t enough collagen in your skin to keep up with how fast it grows; leaving you with stretch marks. Another factor that leads to stretch marks during pregnancy? Hormones.
How Can They Be Treated?
Some stretch marks will fade on their own with time. Other stretch marks, however, need a little bit more tender love and care to get rid of them. Luckily, here at our office, Dr. Jack Bertolino offers patients four different stretch mark solutions.
- IPL
- Microneedling
- PRP
- Ultrasonic Dermawave
No Recovery Time
The great news about all of these treatments is that they are all non-invasive which means that you won’t have to worry about any surgery or recovery time. And, as a new parent, we know just how valuable all of your time is.
Is It Safe For Nursing?
If you are a nursing mother, we may recommend that you wait until after you’re done nursing to undergo any of these procedures. However, during your initial consultation with our staff, we will go over all of your options.
What If I Plan On Having More Babies?
Depending on the severity of your stretch marks, we may recommend that you wait until you’re entirely done having babies to get one of these stretch mark treatments. However, many women prefer to enjoy their body and their skin in between pregnancies, which is enough reason to treat stretch marks sooner rather than later.
Having a baby and going through a pregnancy is a real joy for many women. However, it can also leave you with a body full of stretch marks. If you are interested in learning more about any of the stretch mark option we offer, schedule a consultation at our office and call us at (716) 633-6100.
